The hustle and bustle,
and lights and sounds of Christmas
are once again fading.
And we stand in a moment of quiet,
on the threshold of yet another new year,
…a moment that invites us to once again reflect
on the substance of the year past,
… as we begin setting our intentions and directions
for the new year.
What of the year past shall we leave behind?
And what shall we carry into the new, so that what we do
– individually, and collectively as a people – truly matters?
And how shall we adjust the directions of our lives in this New Year
to better reflect the heart of the faith walk we have chosen?
…may we find ways to bring more of ourselves, …and our passions,
…into the situations and opportunities that confront us.
May we grow as family, in its many ways of being.
May we grow in visibility and vision as an attractive, venturesome,
and restorative community of faith.
And may we be part of a greater voice in our world
that will not be silenced in its calls for peace, ...and reason,
...and integrity, ...and justice.
May all that we do in the days to come
nurture and encourage, …create and transform, ...heal and redeem,
for that is what we understand to be our work
in this New Year,
…in this Via de Cristo,
…this Way of Christ. – Amen
